Washaway is another example of a small church
overlooking the local vales and slopes rising towards the moors.
The church has two rather fine and worthy possessions
of note. It has a font with carvings of stars and knotwork by a Norman
sculptor who, it is said, may have come over with the Conqueror and shaped
the bowl from local granite, and secondly, a pulpit that has come from
Germany. |
